WHAS-11: New group seeks tougher Louisville judges amid calls for accountability in justice system

Louisville Judges Watch launches to elect judges prioritizing law enforcement and community safety.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new political organization, Louisville Judges Watch, has launched in Louisville to advocate for the election of Jefferson County judges who will hold offenders accountable.

Iris Wilbur Glick, political professional and spokesperson for Louisville Judges Watch says the launch comes after a mother and her two children were abducted at knifepoint in Lyndon on Aug. 8.

Armond Langford was arrested and was discovered to be a repeat offender, released early by a judge after serving only five months of a 14-year sentence.

"When you have a repeat criminal offender at the time who was only sentenced and served a fraction of their original sentencing, that's just not acceptable," Wilbur Glick said. "Now is the time that we shine a light and have a coordinated effort to elect judges who are ready to help the community feel safer, that criminals are held accountable."

Eight years after losing her father Lonnie Bard, Lonnie McCray is still waiting for accountability.

Police say 62-year-old Bard, father of five, was robbed and beaten to death by a group of six teenagers in 2018.
